Early Finishers

“WHAT DO I DO WHEN I’M DONE?!”

I swear, in my years of teaching I must have heard this question 1,000,000 times. If I had a nickel for every time a student has asked me that, I wouldn’t have to teach anymore (just kidding!). About three years ago my sister and I were complaining about this same issue. It appeared that her fourth graders asked it just as frequently as my second graders. We decided it was finally time to do something about it.

It occurred to us that we just needed a solid, consistent, low prep, go-to answer, that kids would be excited to participate in all year! What we finally decided on became one of our favorite products of all time that we call “I’m All Done, Time for Fun!”

We ended up creating a 20 page packet for each month of the school year. These packets contain a blend of literacy, math, and just plain fun activities for students to complete once they are finished with their work. They work great for students in grades 2-4.

The packets differ from month to month and have many opportunities for creativity and fine-motor skill practice. My students are always excited to get to work on their packet after their assigned work is completed.

Since the creation of these packets, my life has become so much easier! I no longer have to answer the daunting question of “what do I do when I am done?” and my students cheer the first day of each new month when the new packets are passed out!
