Meet Your Students in 3D: A First Week of School Favorite

The first week of school is always a bit of a whirlwind. You're trying to establish routines, learn a million names, get your classroom systems running, and set the tone for the year—all while your students are feeling a little shy, a little unsure, and a lot curious about who’s sitting next to them.

That’s exactly why I love using this All About Me 3D Cube during those first few days. It’s the perfect low-prep activity that keeps kids engaged while giving them a creative way to introduce themselves to their classmates—and to you!

Each side of the cube gives students a chance to share a little piece of who they are: their favorite things, their family, words that describe them, and more. And once completed, these cubes turn into the cutest hallway displays. I’ve had so many teachers and staff stop and read them as they pass by. If your school hosts an open house, they’re also an awesome way to show parents what their child is working on and spark meaningful conversations.

What I also love is how this activity sneaks in a bit of a challenge. Students have to cut out the net, fold it correctly, and then assemble it into a 3D cube. It’s a little engineering, a little art, and a whole lot of fun!

It’s super simple to use—just print out three pages per student (I recommend using cardstock for best durability). Students will fill in and color each section to reflect their unique personalities, then cut out the pieces and tape them together to create a flat net. From there, they’ll fold on the lines and use glue or tape to secure the tabs, transforming it into a fun and sturdy 3D cube! It’s the perfect combo of art, reflection, and hands-on learning—all with minimal prep on your part.

The best part? It’s only $3.99 and includes everything you need:

✔️ easy-to-use student template
✔️ teacher directions
✔️ student directions (in PowerPoint too—perfect for projecting while they work!)
